Do the poor get poorer whilst the rich get richer???

I believe so. This is due to rich people having higher privileges… For example, they would have lower taxes making it easier for them to pay due to their outstanding jobs and their salary. In most cases, poor people or less fortunate people are smarter than rich people but due to their common wealth they are not signed for the job. I believe that if you made 2 people sign up for the same job at the same time with the same qualifications but with one difference… That one was more fortunate than the other, the more fortunate will get the job. You can compare this to racism. For example, if you make 2 people with the same qualifications sign up for a job at the same time but one person was black and one person was white  , that the white person would get the job. In addition, rich people can pay their way out of sticky situations, i.e a robbery can be payed off.

this is my feeling on the debate statement ‘Do the rich get richer whilst the poor get poorer?’

  1. Josiah – this is a good start and I am intrigued by you addressing the idea of priveledge. Can you expand further by giving us three clear examples? These could be take from research you have found or read in class, or your own personal experience (or both).
