In this scene, Ross, an old man and Macduff talk to each other about who shall be king because Duncan is dead and his two sons have ran away.

Act1 scene2
In this scene, Duncan, Malcolm, Donaldbain and Lennox are talking to a dying soldier. Duncan requests who he is and gets a reply of an injured sergeant. After a while of dialogue, the sergeant comes to a conclusion that Macbeth deserves the name of ‘brave’. The sergeant is then swapped out of the scene for Ross.
Act 2 scene 2
Duncans death was surprising for everyone. one morning Macduff found Duncans body along side the guards. He alerted everyone and everybody was shocked. After a while Macbeth felt the guilt kicking in and decided to own up. ” O, yet I do repent me of my fury that I did kill them” meaning Macbeth killed Duncan and the guards that saw.
later on in the scene Donaldbain and Malcolm feel the fear. “There’s daggers in men’s smiles” quotes Donaldbain. “To Ireland I. Our separated fortune shall keep us safer”. This means that if Donaldbain and Malcolm are apart and away from the crime scene, then they will be safer because the person that killed Duncan my want to kill them also in there eyes.

Why are the witches significant in this play?
In Macbeth, the witches were significant in making macbeths decision to take the throne of Scotland from Duncan. Macbeth had an idea to meet up with the witches but once they told their idea it was confirmed in his mind. Once Macbeth told his wife about the prophecy, she becomes eager to help Without the meeting with the witches, Macbeth probably would not have had the strength to murder Duncan. The entire shape of the story would be different if the witches were excluded.

In this scene, Macbeth feels guilty over killing king Duncan. But lady Macbeth is still taunting Macbeth even after he did what was required.
Scene 1
In this scene, the three witches speak about when they shall meet again. This is not a very significant scene so there’s not much to explain.
